Lake Winnipeg

Walk for Water on July 24, 2016

Pledge forms are available at the Dunnottar Community Club, and online for the Lake Winnipeg Foundation Walk for Water, in support of a healthy Lake Winnipeg.  The walk begins and ends at the Club, with a bbq and activities afterwards.

And a new event this year is July 19, 2016 Dunnottar Beach Clean-Up, 10 am to noon.
This year Lake Winnipeg Foundation wants to do our part, and help you do yours, to promote a healthy Lake Winnipeg, starting with a healthy shoreline. Please join us at the Dunnottar Community Club on July 19th at 10am for a brief information session followed by a full-force beach clean-up. Gloves, bags, and garbage pickers will be provided so simply bring your friends, family, and a positive attitude to show your pride in the beautiful beaches of Dunnottar!"

The Province of Manitoba Water Stewardship says:
Here are some things that you can do to help reduce nutrients in Lake Winnipeg:
  • Leave uncut vegetation at the water's edge and plant native plants and shrubs.
  • Keep shorelines in their natural state.
  • Do not use fertilizers next to water.
  • Use phosphate-free soaps and detergents.
  • Do not use soap or shampoo in the lake.
