Welcome to Summer 2014!

The snow has melted away after a “winter to remember” – and with that comes a great summer ahead at our favorite lake community.  We are especially excited for another year of fun filled activities and events at our Dunnottar Community Club (the “DCC”)!

As a quick update to recent DCC initiatives, we are pleased to announce the completion of the final phase of our building renovations that were generously supported by the contributions to the DCC Capital Campaign and by government grants.  The final phase included the renovation of the kitchen and washroom facilities with the addition of a new wheelchair accessible washroom.  Once again, we are sincerely thankful to all who have provided financial support to this important campaign.  We are also grateful to Mayor Rick Gamble and the Village of Dunnottar staff for their ongoing support of this initiative, especially for their planning and coordination of the various phases of the renovations over the past three years.  For more information and pictures of recent updates to the DCC, you can visit our website at, and you can also follow us on Facebook at

We also want to thank the Village of Dunnottar for their continued support of the ongoing operations of the DCC.  They provide the DCC with a significant portion of its operating costs, which has allowed us to keep membership fees down in the hope that more people can enjoy our summer programs.  Thanks to the Village’s continuing support, membership fees this year will continue to be subsidized at $50 per family. Memberships will go on sale at our Open House on Saturday, June 28th from 1:00-3:00 PM.  For those of you wanting to purchase your memberships in advance, you can complete, detach and mail the form below.  Calendars and wrist bands can be picked up at the Club.

The DCC runs on volunteer’s time and efforts and we know that the summer is a time for people to take a break and relax. We are therefore grateful to our Board members for their time and ongoing commitment to ensuring the success of our DCC programs.  The DCC is always looking for new members to join the Board to provide their time and insights to the planning and delivery of our programs. If you are interested in joining our Board, there is a line on the form below where you can indicate this interest and return back to us by mail.  We also look for families to help organize events like the Costume Hop, Summer Carnival, and Pancake Breakfast, so once again, please let us know if you are interested in helping with an event this summer by indicating this on the form below.  Volunteering with the DCC is fun and a great way to meet with members of our community so please consider this for 2014!

Our summer counselors are excited to provide another great calendar of recreational events for the DCC.  Our Board is keen to be responsive to all summer and permanent residents and we will make available our phone numbers for suggestions of how we can continue to improve the summer program.
Goodbye winter! – The countdown is on to Summer 2014!
Sincerely, Sheila Sachvie – Dunnottar Community Club Board Chair
